Christmas News

Hello!

We're back into the full swing of work after a lovely summer holiday.  Both feeling very refreshed having had lots of sleep and all of our food cooked for us.  Magic.

I had a proper break from 'stitching for kits' and ended up creating an actual collection of beaded needle cases.  I just took a selection of all of the gorgeous fabrics and silk threads I've been collecting and stitched whatever I fancied.  I always seem to make books of some description.  Usually little ones.

I have been researching some personal work for a while and have found myself really interested in the idea of comfort, good luck charms and amulets. Stitching all things inspired by Mexican folk art is my jam at the moment and I'll share more pictures next time but here's a little peek.   I have continued to make them (and a few amulets) since I got home and I'll be putting some up for sale at some point.  I just want to work out some nice packaging.

(I also have a free tutorial to share on this theme for World Embroidery Day next week so stay tuned, friends!)

Anyway, this email is not about me, it's about YOU and the lovely things you will be able to buy this Friday at our Christmas launch.

There's good news and, I guess, bad news so please keep reading.

If you've been around these parts for a while you will know that each Summer we release the kits from previous Christmas boxes.  This Friday 26th July at 1pm we will be releasing six mini kits and a full-size kit from Christmas 2023, as well as a cheeky little reindeer cross stitch kit that my sister has created.

The Christmas Market was the surprise pattern in our Christmas Eve box for 2023.  Lots of soft festive colours and tiny details make this a really pleasurable stitch.

It might be my most favourite selection of Christmas mini kits ever.  There's a line from that famous Christmas poem and a pair of white boots (one of my favourite childhood stories by Noel Streatfeild) together with a sack of toys and a jolly snowman.

Don't forget, either, that we have already released the larger sets so that we can produce them on a pre-order basis and we are nearing capacity so do order now whilst they are still available as we will close the listing when we have reached the maximum that we can create (they have full skeins of thread and are very labour intensive to produce!)

Another good reason to order now is to get your Christmas orders in before the dreaded price increase.  Yes, I am afraid that we will have to increase prices slightly from 1st August.

Despite every single supplier (bar none) increasing their prices over the last couple of years we have tried to keep our prices steady and absorbed most of that cost ourselves - it has been really important to us to support local, UK, businesses and to continue to use our trusted suppliers who provide us with fantastic quality products for you.  We haven't cut costs at all and it isn't something I would consider.

I didn't have much to compare to when I first started The Stitchery nearly 8 years ago but I see more businesses pop up each year (including some who have clearly been inspired by our beautiful packaging) and even with our new, slightly increased, prices, we will still remain competitive (in fact, still less expensive than others, comparably) in the market.  So I think that's a good thing.

With all that said, pricing and value for money is something that I am super mindful of - I want to be accessible for everyone - and so I will be creating some more affordable ways to join the Stitchery fun next year.  But you've got to hang around to hear about that, ok?!

Meanwhile I will leave you with a couple of photos from our Nordic Winter set (also available to pre-order for a limited period now) and hope that you can join me on Instagram for a LIVE IG Christmas Show and Tell at 12.30pm on Friday 26th July before the kits go live at 1pm.

I'll be back in touch again soon (I've got that World Embroidery Day freebie coming your way).

Thank you for being there and thank you for your continued support.

Sending love and, I hope, sunshine.

Nicki xx
